The average teenager. (Final Project piece)
Now I know not every teenager does these things and all that, I just thought the title was fitting. And I believe that it's self explanatory. Mostly because I don't wanna type anymore but also because it is. And everything was done the same way and means the same thing.
The Black Lung (Final Project Piece)
This is a pack of cigarettes. I know everyone thinks that's smoking is cool and hip or whatever it is the kids are saying nowadays. But not to me. I've lost three grandparents to Lung cancer, because they smoked their whole lives. And I have a grandparent right now battling lung cancer. And I hate to say it but this is usually a losing fight.
But anyway I basically again painted with acrylic and the background means the same thing.
A pill a day keeps the doctor away. (Final project piece)
So this is a bottle of prescription drugs. I just drew it out as well, and painted it with acrylic paint. I didn't put a label on any of these pieces because I didn't think it was very necessary. So yeah. The pills are also something I've seen a lot of considering my school is one of the ones considered a "Pharmacy".
The background like a said in the post before this one represents how messy getting involved with these kinds of things can get.
Liquid courage (Final Project piece)
So basically it's a beer bottle. I didn't really know how to draw one, but I did my best. It's just your average drink at a party, or a backyard barbecue. I drew it out, and used acrylic paint to paint it. I tried to get it that clear glass brown color, but it came out red so I just went with it.
On the background I got matting board for photographs, because it was the only thing laying around I could use. And I cut the board into 4 pieces for my series. I used melted wax from a candle. One of the candles was a cupcake candle and I used so much of it the bottom melted out and the wick and it's stand fell on the board. The wick was still lit so I was kind of freaking out. Luckily nothing was burned. After that I had to get a different candle of course. I wanted to paint the background messy to resemble the mess too much of this liquid courage can cause.
Final project thumb nails
These are thumbnails for my final project. I'm trying to focus on influences and their effects on teenagers. I decided to do this work because lately I've noticed these influences are dependent in some of my peers lives. People whom you would never think would get involved with drugs and alcohol are. It's like a necessity for teenagers to do. It seems like everywhere you look there are these substances and you can't really get away from them. So that's why I decided to do my project on these things.

I don't understand this, and I'm not really sure I want to. But I posted this because there are many different types and forms of art, and i want to focus on more than just painting with a brush and acrylics.

Street art
This is my street art project. It's a mixture of a lot of stuff. Pages from a book, my own little drawings and a few pictures I took. Then I a ton of paint and wax and some melted crayon. Also I added sand for more texture.
So I started by gluing down the book pages. And I added the the drawings and pictures. I painted over and around them. Then I added wax, and melted crayon. Then I put down the last picture, and added sand. And this we have this representation of street art.

Now this is my kind of art work. Because I'm a nerd who enjoys nerd things. ... Like pokemon related fan art. I also like how realistic it is and all the other jars of pokemon behind it.

I think these are wonderful examples of mixed Media . There is that sorted of wonderful chaos that works together to create wonderful pieces of art. I don't know who the artist of these works of art are I just looked icy up on google so if you like to find out who they are that would be great. But seriously I am digging these that are awesome .
Vincent Willem Van Gogh
1853 - 1890
Vincent Van Gogh had an intreating life and a very difficult life. He had several jobs and moved all around Europe before deciding to become an artist. He had a unhappy childhood and a history of illness which contributed to his death in 1890. During his years as an artist he became very intensely involved in his work, which led to poor health and a poor lifestyle. He has a very unique style, full of vibrant colors and emotion.
He is a very inspirational artist, having over come all these difficulties and illness, becoming the great and wonderful artist that he has become known as today.

Mixed Media
This is my Mixed Media Finished Project. We had to choose an issue and create work on it. My issue was Media Corruption, and how effective tv is in peoples lives today. Basically how the images you see in day to day life effect you.
I started out by using Matte Media to transfer the few images I have on my poster. That took most of my time, it took forever. After that I started painting a little, black and red. Then I used was on my paper from a melted candle which turned out pretty cool. After that I used so Gray and Black Charcoal to make the wax stand out and I used that all over the paper. Then I got wall paper, and pasted it down with some matte media. And I got Green, Blue, and Orange pastels and colored over the wall paper. Then I got this textured paper with holes and painted over the tv picture in red. After that I painted down the textured paper to cause repetition. Then I started painting in red and black to kind of fix up some areas. I added tape over certain transfers, and around for a boarder and painted them white. After that i Got some tinfoil and putt it down with more Matte Media and painted over them red, and kind of showed like the texture of the tin foil. Lastly I put down sand with Matte Media and painted it red.
Doing all this thus created my crazy, yet together piece of work.

Hatching and Cross Hatching
We learned about these techniques last year, so I thought I would go more in depth and explain it more, maybe learn some more about it and try out what I learn and post pictures. But for now I found some examples online.
These are the types of Hatching and Cross Hatching.
Linear hatching
Hatching in parallel lines. Normally the lines follow the direction of the described plane.[
Crosshatching
Layers of hatching applied at different angles to create different textures and darker tones. At its simplest, a layer of linear hatching is laid over another layer at a 90° angle, to which further diagonal layers may be added. Other methods include layering arbitrary intersecting patches. Crosshatching in which layers intersect at slight angles can create a rippled moirĂ© effect.
Contoured hatching
Hatching using curved lines to describe light and form of contours
Hatching and Cross Hatching are shading techniques. They represent ripples in clothing, and different layers, further away or closer, and they also represent shadows and other important details to add into drawings.
These are the types of Hatching and Cross Hatching.

Home Artwork
It started out like so, I drew it with pencil, then went over it with pen. Since I am at home I used Gimp to paint it on the computer. I just thought of the saying "People stand over me like Skyscrapers, I get lost in their shadows." and decided to draw a picture with it. So yeah nearly done, I have to finish painting it the colors I want, and then touch it up, and maybe add some special effects and filters.

What Is Art?
So for my next post I have decided to I guess in a way discus this. First the Definition of art. :
1. Human effort to imitate, supplement, alter, or counteract the work of nature.
2.
a. The conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, movements, or other elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty, specifically the production of the beautiful in a graphic or plastic medium.
b. The study of these activities.
c. The product of these activities; human works of beauty considered as a group.
3. High quality of conception or execution, as found in works of beauty; aesthetic value.
4. A field or category of art, such as music, ballet, or literature.
5. A nonscientific branch of learning; one of the liberal arts.
So here are just a few of the examples/ definitions for art on http://www.thefreedictionary.com/art.
Humans have always had an urge to recreate what we see, in our own image, in some way, shape, or form. It has been this way for centuries.
Now art isn't just recreating what we see into paintings, drawings, or sculptures. No art can be a reproduction of sound, created for any instrument, art can be a sensation or feeling in an interpretive dance, art can be possibly anything in the world that you want to label it to be.
There is no limitations on WHAT art is. Because really there are no boundaries. Art, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder.

Matte Medium
The next few weeks in my Graphic Arts class we are using Matte Medium. Matte Medium is a useful tool for artist. It allows you to transfer a printed image from the paper to a different surface. In my class we are using the Medium to transfer images onto different surfaces, and adding things such as paint, wax, soap, and other things to make our finished project look cool.
Each person chose a different issue in today's society to do a project on. I personally chose corruption within the media, (just so I can seem like one of those insane government conspiracy theorist). Within this project we have to do a multimedia portrait, using different substances and materials, along with the Matte Media.

Obtaining Eskimo Captain
So in class we did a project where we got on ( http://andrewbosley.weebly.com/the-brainstormer.html ) It's a website where you spin this wheel containing words and phrases and makes random phrases, of things or people that you can draw. This site really helps if you have artist block, or you just want something weird to draw. So I spun the wheel a few times and finally ended up with (Obtaining Eskimo Captain). When I think of Obtaining, it brings to mind capture, and captain brings to mind a Pirate Captain, and Eskimo is self explanatory, they wear fuzzy jackets and stuff.
So it didn't take me very long to come up with what i wanted to do, so i sketched it out on to a piece of paper. And i colored it in with colored pencils to get a feel of how it would look once i used the paint tool on the computer and so far it looked alright. After that i felt like the picture was too empty and missing something, so of course I added a Penguin. And of course I decided that there would be a love story between the Eskimo and Penguin. So yeah the Penguin captures the Eskimo after years of hoping and waiting for the Eskimo Pirate man to come to him. So the end on that romantic story.
The background is a work in progress. I just painted it Orange to do something with it. I added a lot of different tones and color, to make the face and jacket and stuff seem a little realistic. So now all I have to do is fix up the background.
